Licensing Information

Financial Tactics Limited (FSP 688511) trading as Insure Ability holds a full license issued by the Financial Markets Authority to provide financial advice.

Nature and Scope of Advice

Insure Ability provides advice to our clients and prospective clients about their life insurance and health insurance needs. Specifically;

  • Life Cover

  • Trauma Cover

  • Total and Permanent Disability Cover

  • Income and Mortgage Protection

  • Health Cover

  • Shareholder Protection

  • Key Person Cover and Debt Protection

  • ACC Cover Plus

For life insurance we work with five companies;

AIA New Zealand, Asteron Life, Chubb Life, Fidelity Life, Partners Life, (we also manage existing Resolution Life (AMP and AXA) business – although these are no longer accepting new business)

For health insurance we work with two providers;

Southern Cross, NIB (we also manage existing policies for private health insurance with other insurers)

What we do not advise on:

  • Whole of life or endowment products

  • Fire and General insurance (however I can recommend a specialist to you)

  • Investment products and Kiwisaver

  • Mortgages

You will need to consult a specialist in these areas if you would like advice on those products.

Fees and Expenses

We do not charge fees or expenses for the insurance advice we provide clients. We may charge a fee of $350 +GST for providing a recommendation regarding ACC Cover Plus.

Conflicts of Interest and Incentives

For life insurance and health insurance, Insure Ability receives commissions from the insurance companies on whose policies we give advice. If you decide to take out insurance, the insurer will pay a commission to Insure Ability. The amount of the commission is based on the amount of the premium.

Additionally, if I refer you to a fire and general specialist (Insurance Design) and you go ahead with their recommendation I will receive a referral fee from them of up to 25% of the commission they earn on your policy premium.

The Code of Ethics to which Insure Ability is committed, as well as the Financial Service Legislation Amendment Act requires us to follow an advice process that ensues our recommendations are made on the basis of the client’s goals and circumstances. We will always give you a clear rationale about our recommendation to you and how it is based on your needs. Should any actual or potential conflict of interest arise we will bring this to your notice.

We refrain from having any targets with any of the insurance providers or other incentives that could influence our advice on which provider/product you should choose. We may accept low value Christmas gifts from suppliers and/or attend the occasional supplier event.

We undertake a compliance audit and a review of our compliance programme annually. I also complete an Ethics in Financial Services course every three years about how to manage conflicts of interest.
